Before it closed for good, the Hilton served as low-income housing. I found a little calendar, like the kind you get from a bank or an insurance agency, hanging on the wall in one of the rooms. I keep finding those little calendars in abandoned buildings. Maybe when you're down and out, and you're living the kind of life where it'd be easy to lose track of the days, or even the years, hanging a calendar on your wall is no little thing. If you know what day it is, then all is not lost.
