Don't get the wrong idea. Downtown still isn't in a big rush to reinvent itself. Neglect has its own inertia. Maybe that's why the wig heads are still on display in the front window of the wig shop, even though it closed down a year ago. There are still lots of unsolved mysteries, too, like who keeps the holly bushes trimmed in that parking lot on 13th Street that no one parks in anymore. Downtown is still a good place for late night bike rides, and it's still a ghost town on Sunday afternoon, when the sun is bright and you can pretend the city is empty and it's all yours. | |
